9th Field Meeting of the SGE Sedimentary Geology Commission

IAS is sponsoring the XI Reunión de campo de la Comisión de Geología Sedimentaria de la Sociedad Geológica de España, which will take place in Geoparque Las Loras, on 02-04 October 2026 and is organised by The Geological Society of Spain.

The meeting will start the afternoon/evening of the first day (October 2), when attendants will meet and there will be time for several presentations. The organizers will introduce the field itinerary, and students or early-career researchers will introduce themselves and their doctoral/research projects. During the following two days (October 3-4), we will visit Jurassic and Cretaceous outcrops in Palencia, Burgos, and Cantabria, which exhibit diverse facies (carbonate, siliciclastic, and organic) accumulated in various environments (from deep and shallow marine to coastal and continental) and representative of different geodynamic stages (from pre-rift to syn-rift and post-rift). Therefore, it will offer content for participants with a wide range of interests.

The aim of the field meetings of the Sedimentary Geology Comission of the SGE is to bring together specialists in the field of Sedimentary Geology from diverse academic and professional backgrounds. It serves as a platform and showcase for proposing and disseminating national and international activities and news related to the areas of stratigraphy, sedimentology, sedimentary petrology, and related fields.
