S4 Summer School on Speleothem Science

IAS is sponsoring the S4 Summer School on Speleothem Science to be held in Agadir, Morocco
S4 2025 will consist of a total of six days with three days of lectures and workshops and three days of fieldwork with experts in the field of speleothem science at the International Water Research Institute, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, Ben Guerir, and Agadir, Morocco. Participants are welcome to present their research to fellow participants and the experts during poster sessions.
A cornerstone of S4 Morocco will be a field excursion to the Tasroukht Plateau and Lakhssass Plateau, situated in the Western High Atlas (WHA) and the Anti Atlas, respectively. These karstic regions are dominated by limestone and dolostone formations of Mesozoic and Palaeozoic ages, respectively. The field excursion will provide unparalleled opportunity for sedimentological exploration, emphasizing the distinct geological features and contrasting geodynamic histories shaped by the Alpine and Hercynian orogenies. Extensive karstification processes in these areas offer participants hands-on experience to study the interplay between geology, hydro(geo)logy, and sedimentary dynamics.
